Immigrant Families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: Barriers in Nursing Care

Objective: The number of immigrants in the world is increasing rapidly. vast majority female are reproductive age. Immigrant infants added to population every day. purpose this study determine challenges for neonatal intensive care unit nurses who immigrant families.
 Methods: A qualitative phenomenological research design based on a semi-structured in-depth interview with 11 nurses. interviews were recorded and transcribed content analysis responses categorized into themes.
 Results: two major themes identified from data were: (1) language-related barriers (2) culture-related barriers.
 Conclusion: Neonatal families have communication problems as result lack interpreters because cultural differences. This has potential affect well-being. Study results can be used by improve quality their families.
